Welcome!

Welcome to Chitowndisciples.com, home to the Alpha Ωmega Campus Christian Ministry of the Chicago Church of Christ! We are a group of Christians on 8 different universities such as U of C in the south, UIC downtown and Northwestern University up north. We are striving to love God, love one another, and share his message of grace with others on our campuses. We hope that our website encourages your faith. We have weekly bible discussion groups on many campuses in Chicago, a weekly combined devotional on Friday nights, and a Sunday worship service at various locations throughout Chicago. If you would like to find out more, just click on the Contact us link and get in touch with us through an email. Thank you very much!

Scripture of the Week!

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

Failure is inevitable. But those of us who prepare for it will overcome. Trials are unstoppable. But those of us who look ahead will be well equipped for it. Temptation will not cease to exist until we’re in the grave. But we can subdue it. How can we do so? Paul says that we must beat our body and make it our slave. Why must we have such a focus, diligence and mental preparedness for the race we run as disciples? It’s because once we begin our journey we must finish. We must Finish Strong!

There is no other alternative.  We must focus on the crown of glory that awaits us. We must be conscious of our boundaries. We must be aware of the enemy. It would be to our detriment that we lose sight of these elements. The Crown of glory is what motivates us. The boundaries are what make us aware of our sinful desires. The enemy fuels our desire to focus of God.

As the year comes to a close and as we celebrate the festivities with our families or those who we love let us focus on finishing strong. Let’s focus and be determined to do whatever it takes to close out this year by bringing glory to God. Let’s look back at this year and be grateful for the many ways that God has helped us overcome our trials. Let’s thanks God for the friendships we’ve had to help us through those times. Let’s be grateful for the faith God provided us through times of faithlessness, strength during times of weakness, light during times of darkness and determination during times of failure.

To God be the glory, honor and praise.

Renewed focus and vision for Campus Ministries

The  Chicago Church of Christ is focused on renewing their commitment to the Campus Ministries throughout the Chicago Land area. As a result we are accepting donations from anyone who is willing to contribute towards advancing the gospel as we preach the word to our generation. Our vision, to begin with, is to establish a Campus Ministry Center in the North shore, South Suburbs, West Suburbs, Downtown Chicago and Dekalb. We pray and hope that through our renewed efforts more people will come to know Christ and surrender their lives to the glory of God. We truly appreciate all your help in advancing the gospel in our city so that through God’s power through his people many would come to know him. And to God be the Glory!
