Curt and Patty Simmons – Downtown Campus Ministry Lead Couple

Curt and Patty have over 20 years ministry experience, but have been out of the full-time ministry for the past six years while Curt dealt with serious medical challenges. Their ministry experience includes working in various leadership capacities in eight different states and they led churches in Lincoln (Nebraska), St. Louis and Cincinnati. The Simmons’ are both from the state of Washington and met while Curt was attending Western Washington University in Bellingham where he earned his degree in Journalism. Curt and Patty began their spiritual journey in 1981 in the campus ministry at Western Washington, under the leadership of Preston and Sandie Shepherd. While disabled, Curt wrote four books — The Revealer (2005); Small-Town Heroes (2006); The Brotherhood of Believers (2007); and Unsung Heroes (2008). He also wrote The Unveiling in 1995. During the time of Curt’s disability, Patty worked for five years in the health-care field, serving the past three-and-a-half years as an executive assistant for the Vice-President of Quality and Operations at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago, as well as the hospital’s Senior Vice-President and General Counsel. Curt and Patty have been married 28 years and have two children: Brad (24) and Brittany (20).

Maurice Charles – UIC and Downtown Campus Ministry Intern

Maurice became a disciple in February of 2008. Since then Maurice has been a great tool through which God has moved powerfully to make an Impact at UIC. He played for the UIC Soccer team during his sophomore and junior years in college.  Maurice has been an active member in the Student leadership group in Campus and recently graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Through many prayers God has called Maurice to serve in the ministry and now is serving as a full-time intern for the Downtown Chicago Campus Ministry. He has a great passion for saving as many as possible and to building the family of God here in downtown Chicago.

Keith Mudiappa – UIC and Downtown Campus Ministry Intern

Keith became a disciple in our sister church in Sri Lanka as a teenager on April 9th of 2000. He moved to Chicago with his family in 2002. He was active in the teen ministry at OPRF High School and recently graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. While in the Downtown Campus Ministry, Keith has been an active part of the Campus Student Leadership group. He has a passion for helping campus students find faith and currently works with students on the campus of Northwestern University.

Chris and Meegan Zillman – Southland Campus Ministry Lead Couple

Chris and Meegan Zillman have served as Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader in the Chicago Church of Christ since 2005. Both became Christians in 1995 as college students, Chris at Indiana University and Meegan at Smith College (MA). They’ve been married and in the ministry since 1998, with most of that time spent developing campus ministries in New England. The Zillmans have three boys: Isaiah, Justus and Augustus.

Benjamin Mudiappa – Prairie State and South Campus Ministry Intern

Ben became a disciple in January of 2006. While growing up in the church and being an active part of the youth and family ministry, Ben has been a great support and a disciple through these past years. He has a great desire to go into the full time ministry and continues to dream for God and his kingdom. He has been an active member in the Student Leadership group in the downtown campus ministry and is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Social Work at Prairie State College. Ben has a great zeal for making God known by preaching the word boldly on  campus. Currently, under the guidance and Chris Zillman, South Land Ministry sector region leader and Evangelist, Ben is being trained to lead and grow the campus ministry at Prairie State college.
